09:30 - 10:00 Category Management in Clinical Development – How to Determine the Best Sourcing Approach for your Organization
Given the sensitive nature of clinical trials, the way they are purchased and the agreements involved can be cumbersome and complicated. Dave Freschi and Ratan Ratnesh will walk us through best practices involved with sourcing this expensive category specifically. They will talk about things like:
-Ranking and evaluating key outsourcing variables — the money, the contract and the people
-Understanding the perspective of legal, compliance and R&D before conducting research on perspective suppliers and analyze criteria and considerations for vetting CMOs
-Reviewing potential vendors, requesting proposals (what info should be included)
-Writing up outsourcing specific contracts and coming up with long term KPI’s to evaluate vendors you choose to work with
-What is the lifecycle of an outsourcing engagement? How does that evolve over time?

-Find opportunities to drive productivity across the organization to support the science
-Collaborate internally to simplify processes to cut down cycle time --Develop an innovation marketplace to simplify the search for suppliers
-Embed information on supplier and services to share knowledge globally
-Reduce cycle time in R&D, leading to significant cost reduction

10:45 - 11:05 Welcome to the Future of Procurement: Vision 2020
Imagine it's the year 2020. Procurement has evolved so much over the past decade, you barely recognize it. Its functions have been decentralized – or outsourced! – leaving leadership to focus on very different things. Job descriptions have changed dramatically. What's more, suppliers seem to have infiltrated the organization. Today’s focus on cost savings will give way to a broader, more balanced emphasis on profitability, leaving open the question of whether supply management concentrates on cost savings or revenue growth to get there.
11:05 - 11:25 A Look Into The Strategic Nature of Market and Risk Intelligence at BMS
Richard Dean serves in Bristol-Myers Squibb’s Center of Excellence focused on global procurement market and risk intelligence analytics. His research supports an array of spend categories with actionable supplier capability assessments and performance scorecards that foster stronger relationships between Bristol-Myers Squibb and its worldwide supply base. Mr. Dean’s presentation will offer a case study view of the strategic nature of market and risk intelligence at BMS and how this function supports both better decision making and mutually beneficial customer-supplier outcomes.
